Reclamation Experience
Ronald K. Christensen, Ph.D, P.E.
I am the author of a Ph.D. dissertation on the history of the rights and interests of Reclamation water users in federal Reclamation projects (projects constructed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation) and have assisted Reclamation water districts and water users throughout the 17 Western states. My experience includes:
- Currently assisting Reclamation water users with contracts litigation for return of $12+ million in water user overpayments made to Reclamation
- Currently assisting with Reclamation water rights and power rights litigation for over 30,000 acres of irrigated land
- Authored an award winning paper on State's rights in the proposed draining of Lake Powell
- Assisted in M&I/irrigation water conversion negotiations
- Researched water rights, power, and revenues issues on numerous Reclamation Projects throughout the West
- Provided expert review of endangered species recovery plans, analyses, and litigation support
- Authored award winning research paper of federal Indian reserved water rights
- Participated in State water rights adjudications and hydrographic surveys in Utah and New Mexico
- Extensively researched federal laws governing U.S. Bureau of Reclamation water supply/repayment contracts. Evaluated rights and interests of water users in numerous Reclamation project water repayment contracts.
